Singapore Design Week: design of tomorrow
One of the most important design festivals in Asia, the Singapore Design Week is back with a new vision, which from 16th to 25th September 2022 deepens the world of design through 3 thematic pillars: Design Futures, Design Marketplace and Design Impact. Organized by DesignSingapore Council - the national design agency - this year’s festival aims at exploring the role of design in people’s lives and in relation to the environment, presenting high-impact creative solutions.
In the next Letter, we will deepen the role of MM Design during the SDW 2022, but in the meantime let’s focus on the main exhibition - "N*THING IS POSSIBLE" - by Potato Head, the well-known tourist village located in Bali, in collaboration with OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture). Open until 25 December 2022 at the National Design Centre, it celebrates the practice of reuse and recycling through the journey of Potato Head village towards the achievement of a zero-waste policy. The village has created a new kind of hospitality where sustainability and comfort coexist, and where design is a vehicle for change. Wastes have been collected and transformed into furniture and pieces of art; in this way, guests feel constantly surrounded by a sustainable aesthetic environment and are engaged to become bearers of new lifestyles. During the exhibition, designers, architects and experts will ask themselves about the life cycle of the materials inside hospitality and about the possibilities of replication of the Potato Head model in the world.
