The Future of European Energy is Becoming Increasingly Sustainable
According to the latest report from the Think Tank Ember, which brings together energy and ecological transition experts from around the world, for the first time in Europe, renewable energies, particularly wind and solar, generated more electricity than fossil fuels in the first half of 2024. Compared to the same period in 2023, there has been a significant decrease in coal consumption by 24% and gas by 14%.
This historic achievement in the energy sector has been driven by policies aimed at reducing dependence on gas imports and promoting wind and solar energy by increasing green installations. Data consistent with the European Union's trend can also be observed in our country, where there is a 21% reduction in electricity produced from fossil sources and a concurrent growth in solar energy by 2.6% and hydroelectric production by approximately 56%.
Clean energy represents one of the greatest challenges and opportunities to transform our lifestyle. Design can lead us to innovative solutions that connect energy efficiency and aesthetics, guiding us through an epochal transition to the era of sustainable energy.
