An entirely new aesthetic archetype has taken shape through the creative synergy between MM Design, Rollerblade® and the R&D department of Tecnica Group: not simply an inline skate, but alpine skiing translated, visually and formally, into urban mobility, conceived for athletes and snow lovers.

The design challenge centred on the balance of masses and volumes. The shell-and-cuff pairing reinterprets the geometric silhouette of the ski boot, reshaping it to follow the dynamics of the skating stride.

Taut lines and structural elements answer to more than a logic of containment: they give visual expression to the management of lateral forces, echoing the precision of the pressure a skier applies to the edges.

The defining trait of the project designed by MM Design lies in the geometric contrast of its surfaces. The shell wraps the foot like a sculptural casing, yet breaks up into sharp cut-outs and aerodynamic openings: a sophisticated interplay of solids and voids that ensures optimal ventilation without softening the aggressive stance of the profile.

Born of the collaboration between Rollerblade® and Nordica®, two Tecnica Group brands that lead their respective disciplines outright, the design of the STS (Skate to Ski) collection pays tribute to the visual identity of the celebrated Nordica® Dobermann race boot, down to the choice of buckles and power strap. The stylistic and colour codes of a racing icon are deconstructed here and reinterpreted in slimmer, more fluid and more dynamic proportions, tuned to the body in the skating stance.

The styling architecture comes in two variants, each with its own visual and performance impact:

• Maxxum STS: clean, essential lines for those seeking a perfect synthesis of the elegance of skiing and the fluidity of skating.
• Maxxum STS Pro and Dobermann Maxxum STS Pro: an extreme, muscular design geared towards pure performance, conveying power and the highest degree of technical intent at first glance.
