Technology + Medical ～ Smart Healthcare in Taiwan
Smart Healthcare is the application of ICT in the medical and health fields. Semiconductor technology plays a primary role in applying Smart Healthcare, such as mobile health, medical information systems, wearable devices in healthcare, and telemedicine.
Taiwan specializes in R&D and innovation in electronics, communications, medical equipment, precision machinery, information integration, materials, and AI. In addition, it builds a digital health device through cross-domain integration and provides products and services with a software-hardware integrated marketing model. Coupled with the fact that Taiwan has one of the best healthcare systems and one of the largest medical databases in the world, these are the solid foundation for Taiwan to develop smart healthcare and biomedical industries.
Recently, through Taiwan Integrated Biomedical Industrial Center (TIBIC), the leading global electronics manufacturer Foxconn with its strong manufacturing capability; Taiwan Biophotonic Co. with its biophotonic technology; and ITRI with its telemedicine and home care technology, cooperating to develop "real-time remote patient monitoring and cloud integration platform."
As a result, more and more well-known high-tech companies in Taiwan are diversifying into the biomedical industry, combining advanced technologies with the latest medical applications, optimizing the Taiwanese healthcare system, and realizing interconnected and smart healthcare.
