Master in Medical Design

The closing ceremony for the master thesis in medical design was held last March at Hospital S.S. Giovanni e Paolo di Venezia; it was organized by the IUAV, the College of Architecture and Design of Venice, together with USSL of Venice and the Region of Veneto.

6 hard working months concluded for the new graduates who started off a master in medical design as well as for the professors who followed them, among them, Mario Varesco, on behalf of our company.

The theses were a summary of possible medical design contributions in industries such as the design of medical products and services, medical design information and the planning of hospital microenvironments.

All projects were conducted together with firms that work in the health industry, hospital divisions or institutions engaged in research and hence the projects have a concrete application, in addition to high feasibility and closeness to the actual demands.

Amongst various projects, those followed by Mario Varesco (as professor), they were concerned with the development of products and services that provide a simplified dialog on all equipments that establish a connection between the patient and the doctor.

Several projects were conducted in this manner, which were quite interesting for their possible future application and for their effect in terms of planning that can have other correlated products and services.

More specifically, candidate students gained an internship with the Bruno Kessler Foundation of Trento, which conducts research activities with more than 350 collaborators, mainly in the field of information, materials and micro-systems technologies and promotes innovation throughout the nation and abroad.

In addition to the professors who followed the students on their educational course (Paolo Ferrari, Jorge Frascara, Antonio Macchi Cassia, Mario Varesco), professor Medardo Chiapponi, director of the Master programme and Dean of the Faculty of Design and Arts IUAV and Dott. Franco Toniolo, the director of the intercollegiate regional centre for socio-sanitary education, also spoke during the ceremony (I-Poc – concept by Anna Costa).
